Best Moisturizer for Men | Non-Comedogenic

best moisturizer for men

If you are looking for a new moisturizer to try your hands on, you should get a non-comedogenic one.

Don’t know what a non-comedogenic moisturizer is?

I have got your back as I explain what they are and how are they beneficial for your skin. I have also listed the best moisturizer for men under the category.

What are non-comedogenic moisturizers?

The moisturizers that are water-based and have little-to-no oil in them are labeled as Non-Comedogenic or Oil Free.

Why use non-comedogenic moisturizers?

We clean our face to remove dirt and unclog pores to minimize acne. Post which we use a moisturizer to moisturize the face but if the pores are getting clogged again because of the oil present in them, the whole purpose gets defeated.

To prevent this, it is highly recommended that we use a non-comedogenic moisturizer. As they do not have oil, they don’t clog pores and are light in comparison with other moisturizers.

Who should use these?

A person with any skin type who suffers from acne can use these moisturizers. Just make sure you choose a moisturizer based on your needs.

  1. I have personally used the Neutrogen Men’s Face Wash and have been very satisfied with it. I have very oily skin and this has greatly helped with that. A lot of guys totally ignore putting any thoughts in men’s skincare products which is ridiculous. Thank you for putting together this list. I’m sure it has and will continue to help more men in the future. Best wishes!

  2. Philosophy Renewed Hope looks like a great product. I have to be honest I’ve never considered a moisturizer for men, but it makes so much sense. I too live in Canada (Northern Ontario). The cold air in winter is brutal on your face.

    Great information.

    Luthor

    • Hi Luthor,

Skin needs to be moisturized regardless of the gender. It helps keep your skin look younger and smooth. And you must moisturize your skin in the cold environment or else it will dry out and can even pain after a while.
I always say it’s better late than never. So go ahead and start using one.
Philosophy Renewed Hope is a great product to begin with. I’m sure you will love the outcome.
Let us know how it went for you.

      Cheers!

  3. What a great and informative article. I suspect that perhaps many men do not use moisturizers because they do not know enough about it. Your well organized article is a perfect place for anyone to start! Have a great day.

    • Hi Nicole,

      Glad you liked it.
I hope this could help a few men.
Thank you for your generous comment. 🙂

      Cheers!

  4. Hi Anubhav,
Thanks for the vaulable information – I’ve been trying to get my husband on board with using an moisturizer and this gives me some new ideas. He has really sensitive skin and is worried something will irritate him or make him break out. I personally use the Neutrogena Oil-Free for Combination skin that you mentioned; it’s good because it’s inexpensive and widely available. I hadn’t thought about having him just use mine…we are so stuck in our gender stereotypes sometimes. Thanks for the idea!

    • I know, right!;) Though my site sounds like it has everything for men, it is NOT ONLY for men. Most of the products that I use and recommend can be used by women too. In fact, I was introduced to many of these products by women.

By the way, I started my oil-free journey with Neutrogena Oil-Free for Combination Skin too for the same reason you mentioned. Your husband can totally use it and I’m sure he will love it. I though recommend you to get him the one for Sensitive Skin.

Thank you for stopping by. 🙂

      Cheers!

  5. Great post. I admit I don’t use any type of moisturizers as you have listed but I will pick one with the help of the review you provided. Thank you for this in depth review.

  6. Hi Anubhav,

Coming from a tropical climate where it is always warm and we are always sweating having a non-comedogenic moisturiser is useful. I think men do not take care of their skin enough. We are made to believe by society that moisturisers are for women only. But skin is skin. And nothing is wrong with wanting healthy skin.

    Thanks for sharing

    • Hi Kevon,

That’s so true and perhaps one big reason I have this blog.
Adding to what you said, men’s skin is tougher and needs better care than the skin of a women.
Thank you for putting across your views.

      Cheers!

  7. Oh man, I don’t moisturize my skin, but by the looks of it, I’m clearly missing out of the benefits that Philosophy Clear Days Ahead Moisturizer offers! Even though I don’t get much acne, I know a lot of guys that do, and they will definitely find this to be useful for them. I like how all the ones you mentioned are fairly cheap and affordable as well.

Thanks a bunch for this helpful article 🙂

    -Brandon

    • Hi Brandon,

Using a right moisturizer gives you younger looking skin for a longer period of time. Lucky that you don’t get acne but you would still want to start using a moisturizer and I’m sure you will love the outcome.
You are welcome to come back and share your experience. 🙂

      Cheers!

  8. Hi there,
Great article and I like the choices that you have selected. I know immediately what my pick is and that is Alba Botanica Hawiaan. As I am an avid user of Aloe Vera products, so this one jumps out at me straight away. I like all the natural elements of this and I know exactly what I am getting with this product.
    Cheers and thanks again
    Philip Browne

    • Thank you Philip.

Alba Botanica Hawiaan is one of my favorites too, pretty much for the same reason. Go Get It!
You are welcome to share your experience after using it.

  10. Hi Anubhav,
    This is an interesting piece.
As a man in my forties I’m becoming more conscious of skincare, but also I do suffer at times psoriasis and eczema. are there any of the creams that you listed particularly good for these conditions?
    Cheers
    Paul

    • Hi Paul,

      Glad that you liked it.
None of above is meant to cure Psoriasis and Eczema but I would recommend you to try Sorion. It’s natural and effective. I’ve already recommended this to few others and got positive feedback. You are welcome to share your experience post using it.

      Cheers!

  11. Hi Anubhav,

Great post. I have always used oil based moisturisers and haven’t had too many issues but I like the explanation as to why water based is better. Makes sense.

I will share this with my brother as he needs some of these products.

    Cheers man,

    Kev

    • Hi Kevin,

Using water-based products is always better in the long run.
I hope your brother could use the information. Thanks for sharing your thought.

      Cheers!

  12. I have been blessed with skin that likes abuse so I have never needed one of the above products. With that being said your review is spot on.

  13. Oil free products are great – people definitely do not realize this. I am definitely going to recommend these to my husband, you have a lot of really good information on your site. Saving your site in my favorites list!

    • Hi Jen,

Glad you liked it. I hope your husband finds it helpful too. Also, these products can be used by women as well.
      Thank you for stopping by.

      Cheers!

  14. I myself life in Canada and suffer from dry skin during the winter months. This is a great article for helping me avoid trying to choose lotion from a department store that mostly caters to women.

    • Hi Shawn,

Using the right products is the least you can do to your skin. There’s no reason why you should compromise on that.

      Cheers!

  15. Philosophy Renewed Hope looks amazing and I have very sensitive skin and I get allergy all the time and I hate it. I hope I can use Renewed Hope for a long time.

    • Hi Furkan,

You hit the bulls eye! 😉 Philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar is a great product and you should definitely give it a try.
Be back to share your experience.

      Cheers!
